Bonam fortunam
Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
Dau enaid ond un daith.
I wish you a good journey
Two hearts, one wish,
two tongues but one language,
two ropes that join connected,
two souls but one journey.

I’ve decided to add a blog… here goes. This poem and this image are two of my favourites… Rowing through the mountains on an infinite water, the character seems quite alone yet seeking something, directed and immersed in a vast and striking landscape. It reminds me of a metaphor: each relationship we have – parents, siblings, friends, partners, acquaintances, strangers, therapist and client – involves getting into a rowboat with someone for a part of each individual’s experience. Not sharing the same boat forever, but rowing together for a while, criss-crossing this endless lake until either one leaves that rowboat to rest ashore… until another rowboat passes, taking us to another part of the internal scenery. As you row off on the boat you joined, waiting for others to join you… what did you learn, what have you taken with you. Life as a sequence of journeys with each person you meet, temporarily together, both rowing, many hellos and many goodbyes. In that time there’s a shared journey, a shared language, a shared mission, a shared window onto the world. We row together for a while. Two souls one journey.
